"Just a lovely place to experience! Monday lunch time, met a new friend over some amazing soup! My Moscow Mule was extra delicious with fresh rosemary and the Risotto dish was mouth watering with flavor and perfect texture. Really great presentation, and such friendly, professional service. I highly recommend this restaurant for any meal or occasion"

"Once in a rare moment, you come across THAT place. You hope for it and you see it in movies and you read about it. Max is that place. The owner and her children (?) efficiently, professionally and cordially serving the nice mix of locals of all backgrounds. All, while good friends play tennis on the clay court in front of the restaurant. The food is elegant, precise and beautiful. Do stop by."

"My buddy and I were recommended this place by a local. We were drawn to the breakfast buffet option. We ended up opting for dishes. The buffet had many options, but resembled a more extensive continental breakfast than it did true buffet. Was hoping for a variety of egg options, pancakes, bacon (all offered on the dishes but not within the buffet). The price point was absolutely impressive for the dishes. The eggs Benedict gives you a perfect fullness. Cheapest meal by far in Basel. The quality was incredibly high too. Being in a tennis club added to the atmosphere along with an easy singing morning band (Sunday). Iced coffee was a major plus as well. I’ve made reviews for the several restaurants we tried in Basel and like the others, the staff was incredibly warm and English speaking. It’s not too far from Basel gare, but feels very local. Would have given five stars for a little more extensive buffet, but the experience overall was very high. So for anyone looking for a breakfast option near the train station, it’s worth the 10 minute walk. (The bacon was an extra addition in the photo but very well priced at 1.50 CHF I believe.)"

"We went there for quick lunch. We didn’t choose lunch buffet but ordered something separately. The waiters and waitresses were absolutely professional and amazing! Especially the handsome waiter brought me some bread as extra because I said I was hungry XD."

"Everything about this place is loveable! It's comfortable, cozy and classy all at once. The cafe is actually in the middle of a tennis club, but serves up proper cuisine with very fair prices. Decor is thoughtfully done, the staff are the essence of true professional, and every dish I ordered could be served in a fine, Parisian street cafe. I was dining alone, but this place is a great intimate setting for solo or small group dining. I wouldn't hesitate to bring a date here for a proper dinner. Menu offerings ate limited, but sufficient to provide choice. Positively charmed by this place! I didn't get the chance to try the private fondue chalet, but observed other guests seated there, and thru the windows, it also appears to be a genuinely memorable dining experience."

"It was a lovely place. We sat on the terrace with a view of the city and the tennis court. We had eggs Benedict and the buffet, both were highly recommended. The staff was very friendly and helpful."

"THE cozy neighborhood place. We’ve been coming back since the beginning, where we stumbled over this place by a locals recommendation. The staff and service is professional, warm and more like friends. They truly make us feel welcome and we observe this friendly, down to earth connection to other guests as well. The menu is small, always freshly made and changes throughout the seasons. There’s different lunch and dinner options and Brunch and breakfast dishes on the weekend. The cocktails are excellent - the Bloody Mary is a bliss - they serve local beer and a small and fine wine selection. The Polenta with Mushrooms and Feta for example feels just like “e wohligi Umarmig”. We go there for a date night, when guests are over, or when we feel like we need to chat to friends. Especially during summer or sunny days it can get busy. Always smart to book a table in advance!"
